What makes you passionate about working in childcare? Being able to provide the best possible outcome of learning for each individual child. Supporting them and encouraging them through the early stages of their childhood. Having fun loving, life learning experiences and providing them with the opportunities to be themselves and enjoy their surroundings without any worry. I love listening to children’s conversations and watching them giggle and enjoy themselves throughout the day with their little friends and watching the friendships that they make with one another.

What is the funniest or most memorable moment you can share from working in childcare? I looked after a little girl from when she was 6 months, as she was fulltime and got older, she used to call me mum and call her mum granny! I was her favourite and she was attached to me from a young age. The child stayed with us at Sanctuary until she was at school age then left the service to attend a school closer to home. Years down the track I attended an ice hockey game here in Perth, where this little girl came running up to me going ‘Miss Jolene” Miss Jolene” and gave me a big hug. It was my little friend Keira that I used to look after, after all these years she stilled remembered me.
Why do you believe your centre is an excellent choice for parents seeking the best childcare? I believe our centre is an excellent choice as we listen to the families and work together to help settle their children in with the best possible care. We go above and beyond our duties here at Sanctuary to help make the parents feel at ease when leaving their precious children with us. Some mornings can be hard for those parents who have had a bad morning or running late, though the girls here at Sanctuary ensure them that their child will be ok and contacts the parents to put their minds at ease this is also done with story park photos. We also provide a fun learning base child care where we can have serious fun and be creative stars.
